Tamil Film Producers Council Condemns Negative Reviews of Suriya’s Kanguva, Calls for Responsible Criticism

Suriya’s Kanguva has faced significant backlash from fans and critics alike, with many expressing disappointment over the film’s execution and criticizing the makers for hyping a lackluster storyline. The negative reviews have impacted the film’s box office performance, with the movie struggling to earn ₹90 crores after six days in theaters.

In response to the ongoing criticism, the Tamil Film Active Producers Council issued a letter condemning personal attacks and hostile reviews that they believe have contributed to the film’s poor reception. The council highlighted the growing trend of media platforms being used to incite hatred under the guise of film reviews, particularly targeting films like Kanguva, Indian 2, and Vettaiyan.

The letter emphasized that while critics have the right to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of a film, their focus should remain on the movie itself, not the filmmakers or actors. The association expressed concern over the rise of “clickbait” reviews, particularly from YouTubers, and urged for responsible, balanced reviews that avoid personal attacks.

The Producers Council’s statement called for a shift towards more objective, fair criticism in the industry, condemning the use of reviews as a platform for spreading negativity.
