Kangana Ranaut is once again making headlines with her controversial remarks, seemingly targeting celebrated filmmakers like SS Rajamouli. Known for her outspoken views, the actress recently commented on the types of Indian films often chosen as Oscars submissions.
In a recent interview, Kangana claimed, “Movies that glorify India are not chosen for the Oscars, but those that portray the country in a negative light always make it.” She alleged that an “anti-India agenda” drives such selections, sparking debates across social media.

Kangana’s remarks seem to subtly question Rajamouli’s choices, despite his remarkable success in putting Indian cinema on the global map. The director is currently working on a new project with Mahesh Babu, which is expected to garner international attention as well.
Interestingly, Kangana also promoted her upcoming film Emergency during the interview, describing it as “brilliantly made” and comparable to any international film. She added, “I know how geopolitics works, and as nationalists, we can’t expect much from these award functions.”
Her comments have fueled debates, with many interpreting them as an attempt to overshadow other filmmakers’ achievements while positioning her film as a better representation of India.
Kangana’s bold statements often polarize audiences, but they continue to keep her at the center of public discussions. Whether her remarks influence the reception of Emergency or spark further controversies remains to be seen.
