It’s Just a Film” – Unni Mukundan Defends Marco’s Violence Amid Controversy, Will It Be the Next KGF?
8 January 2025, 5:34 pmUnni Mukundan defends Marco’s graphic violence, calling it a cinematic choice, and teases bolder sequels after KGF’s success.
Marco has become a hit across India, but its graphic violence has ignited fierce controversy. Critics, including former Kerala cop George Joseph, have called for the film to be banned due to its brutal scenes. The criticism has sparked a debate on whether such violent content should be allowed to be shown in cinemas.
However, Unni Mukundan, who plays the lead role in Marco, is standing firm in defense of the film. He explained in a recent interview that the film’s violence is not meant to promote real-world harm but rather to create an emotional, immersive experience. “It’s just a film,” Mukundan said, clarifying that it is meant to evoke a specific feeling rather than brutal violence. “It won’t influence anyone to go on a killing spree,” he added.
Addressing the criticism, Mukundan drew a comparison to the success of KGF, highlighting that films with intense action, like KGF, didn’t influence viewers. “What happened after KGF? Audiences got a bigger sequel and loved it,” he said. Mukundan believes Marco will do the same, offering fans an even more exciting follow-up.
And the best part? Marco is just getting started. Mukundan revealed that Marco 2 and Marco 3 are already in the works, promising even more action and intensity. “If you thought Marco was brutal, wait till you see the sequels,” he teased.
