Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump said, “We are discussing. He’s going to do what’s right.” The comment followed a lengthy phone conversation between the two leaders where trade, security, and Modi’s upcoming visit to the White House in February were key topics.

Trump emphasized the importance of India purchasing more American-made security equipment and moving toward a “fair” trade relationship. He also warned of potential tariffs against countries, including India, that he claimed impose high tariffs on US products.

This visit will mark Modi’s first time in the White House during Trump’s second term. Both leaders enjoy a strong rapport, having previously addressed joint rallies in Houston and Ahmedabad.
