Suriya’s highly anticipated film Kanguva hit theaters yesterday, collecting an impressive ₹22 crores on its opening day, according to Sacnilk. The movie earned ₹13.65 crores in Tamil Nadu alone, while the Hindi markets contributed ₹3.25 crores. However, collections in Karnataka and Kerala were modest, with the film earning just ₹2 lakhs and ₹8 lakhs, respectively.

Despite its strong start at the box office, Kanguva has garnered mixed reviews. Initial reactions from fan screenings were positive, praising the action sequences and Suriya’s performance. However, critics later pointed out flaws in the storyline and character development.

ETimes awarded the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, highlighting Suriya’s commendable dual-role performance as the film’s saving grace. However, the convoluted plot and uneven pacing prevent the film from reaching its full potential.”
