Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja has achieved a major milestone in China, even though it just missed earning ₹100 crore. Released on November 29, 2024, in 40,000 theaters, the movie collected ₹91.65 crore, making it the highest-grossing South Indian film in China.
The film beat Baahubali 2 to take this title and became the tenth highest-grossing Indian movie in China. It now stands alongside big hits like Dangal (₹1,305.29 crore) and Secret Superstar (₹757.1 crore). Notably, Maharaja is the only South Indian movie on this prestigious list.
