The iconic title Parasakthi, originally from the 1952 Tamil classic starring Sivaji Ganesan, has sparked controversy as two upcoming films claim the name. Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film, directed by Sudha Kongara, was officially announced as Parasakthi on January 29. However, earlier that day, Vijay Antony revealed that the Telugu version of his own 25th film would also carry the same title.

Vijay Antony clarified that his production company had registered ‘Parashakthi’ with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce in July last year, raising concerns about title rights. In response, AVM Studios, the original title holder, confirmed that they had lawfully granted the name to Sivakarthikeyan’s project.

While the Tamil titles differ—Parasakthi for SK25 and Sakthi Thirumagan for Vijay Antony’s film—the Telugu versions share the same name, fueling industry-wide discussions about digital title registration issues. This dispute has highlighted the need for stricter regulations to prevent such conflicts in the future.
