Uncertainty Surrounds Shankar’s Indian 3 Amid Financial Struggles

The financial setbacks of Shankar’s Indian 2 are well-documented. Released with high expectations, the film turned into the biggest flop of Shankar’s career, leading many to question the necessity of a sequel to the original classic.

Originally planned as a single movie, Indian 2 was split into two parts due to budget overruns. However, the story struggled to sustain its depth across two films. With the announcement of Indian 3 in the sequel’s climax, public interest remains minimal.

Indian 3 reshoot 100 crore

Reports suggest that 60-70% of Indian 3 has already been filmed, but given the lukewarm response to its predecessor, rumors indicate a potential direct-to-OTT release. However, fresh updates from the Tamil industry hint at a theatrical release. Shankar, aiming to fix past mistakes, is considering reshoots with Kamal Haasan’s input.

If the additional scenes are shot, the budget could escalate by another ₹100 crore. With Lyca Productions already facing significant losses from projects like Chandramukhi 2, Lal Salaam, and Indian 2, further investment seems uncertain. Despite challenges, Kamal Haasan remains optimistic, believing Indian 3 can recapture the franchise’s original spirit and win back audiences.
