Allegations of Workplace Bullying
Reports suggest that Oh Yoanna was ostracized by her colleagues after appearing on the show. According to Kang Myeong Il, chair of MBC’s labor union, there was an exclusive group chat among weathercasters that deliberately excluded Oh Yoanna and another peer.
MBC released a statement reaffirming its stance against workplace bullying, stating, “MBC is against workplace bullying and has a zero-tolerance policy. If a formal request is made by Oh Yoanna’s family, an investigation will be launched immediately.”
Lawsuit Filed Against Colleague
On December 23, 2024, Oh Yoanna’s family filed a civil lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court against her colleague, seeking damages for alleged workplace bullying. They claim she endured two years of harassment.
While MBC stated that Oh Yoanna never reported any bullying to HR or management, they emphasized their commitment to investigating any formal complaints. The case has sparked widespread public outrage, urging stricter measures against workplace harassment in the entertainment industry.
