Vidaamuyarchi’s Box Office Struggles Begin After the Weekend
Ajith Kumar’s latest film, Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, has crossed the ₹65 crore mark at the Indian box office in its first five days. However, the film experienced a significant Monday drop, collecting just ₹3 crore, compared to ₹26 crore on its opening day. The Tamil film, inspired by the 1997 Hollywood thriller Breakdown, had a weekend collection of ₹10 crore, ₹13 crore, and ₹12 crore, respectively.
On February 10, Vidaamuyarchi had an overall Tamil occupancy of 17.11%, indicating a slowdown in footfall. While the worldwide collection stood at ₹92 crore on Day 3, updated figures from the producers are yet to be announced. However, Lyca Productions confirmed that the film had amassed $800,000 in North America.

The action-thriller follows a man’s mission to rescue his kidnapped wife from a criminal syndicate in Azerbaijan. Initially set for a Pongal release, the film faced delays before hitting theatres. Despite Ajith Kumar’s strong fan base, Vidaamuyarchi received mixed reviews, impacting its box office growth.
Critics noted that the film deviates from the typical mass-hero formula, focusing instead on an emotional rescue mission. With the coming days being crucial, the film’s performance will determine if it can maintain momentum.
Apart from Ajith Kumar, Vidaamuyarchi features Trisha, Arjun Sarja, and Regina Cassandra in key roles.
