Karti Chidambaram’s plea against I-T show-cause notice dismissed

The Madras High Court dismissed writ petitions filed by Sivaganga MP Karti P Chidambaram and his wife Srinidhi Karti Chidambaram challenging the show-cause notices issued by the Income Tax department with regard to alleged non-disclosure of Rs 7.83 crore in 2015.

Observing that a writ against a show-cause notice could be entertained only if it was issued without jurisdiction or on malafide grounds, Justice SM Subramaniam pointed out that Karti and Srinidhi failed to establish either of these.
