Delhi reports six new cases of Omicron variant

Six fresh cases of Omicron have taken the national capital’s infection tally of the new COVID-19 variant to 28, the Delhi Health Department informed on Monday.

Four people of the six people, found to be infected with the variant, are admitted to Max Hospital in Saket.

The development comes ahead of a virtual meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to review the coronavirus and the vaccination drive situation in the capital.

Apart from the designated DDMA members, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Health Minister Satyendar Jain, NITI Aayog`s Member, Health, Dr VK Paul, Indian Council of Medical Research Director General, Prof Balram Bhargava and AIIMS Director, Dr Randeep Guleria are likely to attend the meeting.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that given the rise in cases for some days, now all positive cases in Delhi will be sent for genome sequencing for Omicron.
