Overview: Gautam Gambhir sheds light on the rumours of tension in the Indian dressing room following India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy loss and how victories help restore unity.

Gautam Gambhir, head coach of the Indian cricket team, has finally broken his silence on the alleged dressing room rift after the team’s 4-1 T20I series victory against England. This comes after the team’s disappointing test season, where they lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) to Australia and suffered a whitewash at home in their Test series against New Zealand.

Despite the heavy losses, India’s recent form has been impressive, especially in T20Is, with only three losses in 29 matches since 2024, including winning the T20 World Cup under captain Rohit Sharma. Gambhir, however, refuted claims of internal conflict, highlighting that such rumours are common when results don’t go in their favour. “Once results start going in your favour, things start falling in place,” Gambhir stated during a conversation on Star Sports with Kevin Pietersen, Abhinav Mukund, and Parthiv Patel.

Gambhir reassured fans about the team’s spirit, calling them an “incredible bunch of players” who are deeply committed to playing for India. He added that the dressing room is in good harmony, with players enjoying their cricket and cherishing the opportunity to represent 140 crore Indians.

Following Gambhir’s appointment, Suryakumar Yadav was named T20I captain, and under his leadership, the team secured series wins against Sri Lanka, South Africa, and Bangladesh. As the team prepares for the 2025 Champions Trophy, Rohit Sharma will return to lead the squad in the upcoming ODI series against Australia in Nagpur.
