I am a full-time and hands-on Congress president: Sonia Gandhi at CWC meet

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Saturday announced that she is a full-time and hands-on Congress President at the first physical meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC).

The highest decision-making body of the Congress, held a meeting today to decide on a full-term chief for the party. Sonia Gandhi, who was appointed as the interim chief soon after Rahul Gandhi’s exit, chaired the meeting. The meeting comes ahead of the forthcoming assembly polls next year.

According to party leaders the current political situation, including the farmers’ killing in Lakhimpur Kheri, will be discussed. During the meeting, Sonia said to party members that every party member wants revival of Congress, but that requires unity and keeping party’s interests paramount. “We finalised roadmap for electing regular Cong chief by June 30 but deadline was extended indefinitely due to Covid 2nd wave,” she added.
