India Bids Farewell to Ratan Tata, Former Chairman of Tata Sons, Who Transformed Indian Industry, Dies at 86

From 1991 until 2012, he headed the Tata Group, which is among the largest and most established corporations in India. Sadly, he passed away on Wednesday, even though on Monday he had just mentioned visiting the hospital for routine check-ups.
Present Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran broke the tragic news while referring to Tata as a friend and mentor. He stated that “Ratan Tata molded not only the Tata Group but also India’s future.” Tata contributed to the company’s expansion in India and globally while serving as chairman.
People from all over are paying tribute to Ratan Tata, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi leading the messages of respect. PM Modi said that Tata was a “kind and visionary leader” who made the Tata Group stronger and also cared deeply for the needy. Modi praised Tata not just for his business skills but also for his kindness and generosity.
Other leaders, like Rahul Gandhi, and business people including Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani, also shared their thoughts. Adani said that “India has lost a giant” and that Tata was known for his honesty and care for others. Ambani spoke about their friendship, saying he respected Tata for the values he stood for.

Born in 1937, Ratan Tata was raised by his grandmother. He went to Cornell University and then Harvard University while studying overseas. He mentioned that he was close to being married four times, but that didn’t work out.
