SIPRI Report; India overtakes Pakistan in Warheads

India has surpassed Pakistan in the global nuclear weapon race, says SIPRI.

According to a recent report by SIPRI, nine nuclear-equipped countries including the US, Russia, France, China, India, and Pakistan, continued to upgrade their nuclear arsenal, and a few even deployed new nuclear-capable weapon systems in 2023.

The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute says that recently, India possessed 172 nuclear warheads crossing Pakistan by two. Despite India’s progress, China maintains a significant lead over both nations with over 500 warheads.

Russia and the US hold 90% of the nuclear weapons worldwide. About 2,100 nuclear warheads, mostly from Russia and the US, remain on high operational alert, with China doing the same for the first time.

Additionally, reports say that India, Pakistan, and North Korea have started deploying multiple warheads on ballistic missiles, following the big players.
