Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin will be meeting later this year at the annual bilateral summit between India and Russia. A 2+2 meeting is likely to be held between the two countries marking the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war, it is learnt.

Last week, while speaking at a conference on India and Russia in Moscow, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had said that New Delhi was looking forward to hosting Russian President Putin during the annual bilateral summit. Jaishankar said that PM Modi and Putin have met 19 times since 2014, which is an indication of the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

“We, of course, look forward to hosting the President (Putin) in India for the annual bilateral summit,” he had said at the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations.
