No ban for Ganesha idols in Pondy: L-G

Lt Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday said that there is no ban for erecting Ganesha idols for Vinayaga Chathurthi festival here. Talking to reporters she said there is no ban, but celebrate with caution.

The Vinayaka Chaturthi festival is likely to be a low key event this year in Tamilnadu. In a bid to prevent the spread of Covid-19 due to crowding, the Tamilnadu government haf decided to stop people from installing Vinayaka idols in public places and carrying them in a procession for immersion in waterbodies across the state during the festival. It also extended lockdown restrictions till 6 am on September 15.
