The Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR&CE) department has announced that devotees will not be permitted to congregate in major ‘Amman’ and ‘Murugan’ temples in the State upto 3 August to offer prayers for Aadi Krithigai.

In a statement, Chennai zone joint director of HR & CE department C Haripriya, said that the decision was taken following fears of overcrowding in various temples of Lord Murugan and Goddess Amman.

However, poojas will continue in the temples, which include Sri Subramanya Swamy temple in Tiruttani, Vadapalani Andavar temple, Kandaswamy temple at Kandhakottam, and Padavattamman temple at Padi in the city.
