Vaccination must for entry : Meenakshi Amman Temple authorities withdraw order

A few hours after issuing an order that only those who had received their two COVID vaccine jabs will be allowed entry for darshan from tomorrow, the world famous Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple authorities on Sunday
withdrew the order.

In a statement here today, K.Chelladurai, Joint Commissioner and Temple Executive Officer said the order was withdrawn citing administrative reasons.

Since, the Sabarimala pilgrimage season has commenced, concerns were expressed by people over the order that only fully vaccinated people, both devotees and tourists, will be allowed entry into the temple to prevent spread of the virus.

The devotees were advised to produce proof of double vaccination at the entrance of any of the four towers before entering the temple.

However, the order was withdrawn later.

The move was a follow up to the measures taken by Tamil Nadu government, which had made it mandatory for people to get inoculated, especially, if they moved in public places.
