Chennai battered by heavy rain

Even as heavy rains are lashing various parts of Tamilnadu including Chennai and its suburbs, a fresh low pressure is likely to form over South Andaman sea on 29 November.

Sources said the LP area to form on 29 November is likely to become more marked and move west-northwestwards during the subsequent 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the met office has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in southern districts for the next 24 hours and heavy rains in coastal and delta districts as the cyclonic circulation lay centred over southwest Bay of Bengal off south Sri Lanka coast.
