Chennai Corporation to offer free wifi

Greater Chennai Corporation has announced that people can use free wifi for thirty minutes in places where smart poles have been installed under the Smart City initiative.

A press release today said that an integrated control room has been established at the Ripon building under the Smart city scheme.

The aim of this control room is to monitor the various works that are being carried out in the city, disaster management, measuring rainfall, solid waste management and installing CCTV cameras.

As a special initiative under this scheme, 49 smart poles have been erected in various parts of the city.

Now the public can access these wifi by entering the mobile number and OTP. Sources said that close to 250 to 300 users can access the WiFi hotspots at a time.
