Increase of Covid-19 cases expected: TN Health Secretary

Tamilnadu Health Secretary Dr J Radhakrishnan has said Covid-19 cases is expected in the State in the days to come.

‘Many people have travelled into the districts for Pongal celebrations. Many urban residents, particularly those with mild or no symptoms, may have taken the infection to the rural areas too. With such family reunions and celebrations, we are expecting an increase in new cases for a few more days.’ he said.

A total of 1,41,562 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and pushed the cumulative number of specimens examined to 5,98,30,285 so far.

Tamilnadu recorded 23,888 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, taking the overall tally to 29,87,254. With 29 casualties, the toll reached 37,038.
