Jaya house case : AIADMK to go on appeal
30 November 2021, 12:19 pmThe AIADMK will file an appeal against the Madras High Court order quashing the acquisition of late
leader J Jayalalithaa’s Poes garden residence “Veda Nilayam” to convert it into a memorial.
Talking to reporters at Salem, party co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami said Jayalalithaa’s house was a temple for the AIADMK cadres and the party will file an appeal against the High Court order.
Converting the house into a memorial was the ‘wholehearted desire’ of the AIADMK party workers.
On a petition filed by Jayalalithaa’s niece J Deepa and nephew J Deepak, the High Court quashed the order issued by the previous AIADMK government acquiring Veda Nilayam and also directed that the house should be handed over to them in three weeks.
Following the court order, both Deepa and Deepak filed a petition before the Chennai Collector demanding handing over of the keys of the house to them.
