KCP Driving the Mettupalayam Road Project: Work Begins on Coimbatore Flyover
20 September 2024, 12:16 pmThe National Highways (NH) Wing has initiated the construction of a brand-new flyover in Coimbatore. The flyover will span 975 meters, starting from Alagesan Road and stretching all the way to Eru Company, with a width of 16.61 meters. This new four-lane bridge aims to make the daily commute smoother, especially during peak traffic hours.
The NH Wing team is rushing against a two-year deadline to complete the project, so work is already in full swing. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has approved a budget of ₹75 crore to fund the flyover, which will be located on Mettupalayam Road.
Construction is planned in three phases, starting with deep excavation for the six pillars supporting the structure. KCP Infra Ltd., the company in charge, has secured the contract and is prepared to speed up operations with a larger workforce, working around the clock to meet the deadline.
Fortunately, no land acquisition is needed for this project since there’s a 7-meter space on either side of the road. This also means traffic diversions won’t be necessary. However, the team urges the public to cooperate during peak hours to ensure the project finishes on time.
