Rural Local Body polls in 9 new TN dists on Oct 6, 9

Electionsto rural local bodies in the nine newly created districts of Tamil Nadu will be held in two phases on October 6
six and nine, State Election Commissioner V Palanikumar said.

Announcing the poll schedule to the media, he said polling would be held from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm with the last one hour reserved for COVID patients and those with symptoms of any viral infection and the counting of votes
will take place on October 12.

The model code of conduct came into effect in the nine new districts of Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Vellore, Tirupattur, Ranipet, Villuppuram, Kallakurichi, Tiurunelveli and Tenkasi, with the announcement of the polls.

Filing of nominations would be held from September 15 to 22. The scrutiny will taken place on September 23 and the last date for withdrawals was September 25, Palanikumar said.
